Balance

I was just telling my friend the other day that I finally figured out how to make life work. Being a mom, a wife, taking care of myself (physically and mentally) and feeling happy. She just giggled and told me to wait for the next disruption. Super.

Disruption be damned. I've come to realize that we all have different definitions of balance. Mine changes day to day and doesn't look perfect (#nofilter) on instagram. It also looks nothing like it did a year ago, but that's going to have to be ok.

In the past year, I've added parent to my title. It's the best. It's also one role that has disrupted everything else in my life. There's never enough time or energy. Or sleep. Man, I miss that sleep. There are nights when I do NOT know how the makeup artists are going to cover up my dark circles under my eyes!

It's easy to get caught up in the social media whirl. It's hard not to compare yourself to others. I suffer from guilt no matter what I'm doing. I'm told this is normal for a mom. That doesn't seem fair...

I've learned in this short time of being a mom that some days I need to spend more time with my son and family. Some days I need to devote to work. And some days I friggin' need to hire a babysitter and pay attention to me!

The best advice I've received in the past 365 days, take one day at a time. Full Stop. It sounds so easy.

So...how do you get balance in your life? What's worked and what would you want to share?
